Chicken Balls and Daycare - Shadowscope

Chicken Balls and Daycare

| Share on FriendFeed | DIGG This | Comment

I slept for a little while after I got home today. The girls woke me up a few minutes ago and whatever S took out to thaw is still frozen solid so we are going to have a simple dinner of broccoli and popcorn chicken. Of course my eight year old comes in the kitchen and says "I love chicken balls". I told her "No, they are popcorn chicken" at which point she responds, "I know, but I call them chicken balls".

They are small and round and now I can't get the image of harvesting all of the fucking chicken balls out of my head. Damn, that would be a hard job to be a chicken ball farmer. Even harder on the damned rooster.

Today was Ruth's first day at the day care center. I fucking hate day cares. I think that if we had our preferences she would never go, but this year it is just how it worked out. She will have fun, and we will just have to make sure that anything she doesn't socially and educationally get there is made up at home. The store I am opening here in town this fall will be within 250 yards of the daycare, so there is an upside I guess.

I hate that my kids have to be in daycare too. Luckily, on most days, I LIKE my daycare because it's actually a Montessori School. But damn, I wish I could stay home with the kiddos.

My oldest son was in Montessori until he started High School, and went to a private school for the first two years. My middle daughter was also in Montessori until she was in 1st grade. We had just gotten back to the point that we could afford it for my youngest this past year, and she did attend, but the montessori that has been in our area for the last 20 years has moved about 25 miles away and it is too difficult for us to transport her back and forth with our work schedules (I wouldn't really call mine a schedule, but sometimes it is close).
