...Just what you want first thing on Sunday morning. I was aware of some of the details behind the 1953 coup that installed the Shah of Iran and the fact that the United States was behind it, but it was time for a refresher this morning over at CNN.
When the 1979 takeover in Iran occurred, most Americans viewed it (and still do) as terrorists who were attacking us when actually it was the overthrow of an oppressive US-backed government and most of them saw it as ending the oppression. The people backing the current terrorists have very long memories, and some of this is what is behind the anger toward the United States.
That was some of what Ron Paul was getting at when he said that we needed to take a look at the fact that we might have caused what happened on 9/11. The way that Rudy Guiliani and other candidates responded you might as well have thought that Ron Paul had suggested that the idiots that think we did it ourselves were right, but that is just not the case.
