Four Days...

...Four more days. 96 Hours until the boy is on a bus (most likely) headed to Parris Island for what is sure to be an amazing adventure. That is of course once he gets through the mosquitoes, yelling, running, fighting, more yelling, even more mosquitoes, ad nauseum...

I don't guess there is any way to prepare him for what's ahead. There is no substitute for the real thing. Keep your mouth shut and your eyes and ears open.

She's gonna kill me for posting this.

Almost half my life has been spent with the Boy around. I have forgotten what it is like to not have him here, part of our daily lives. Of course the girls are still here; I have at least another fourteen years before I remember what it is like to be childless, and by that time I may be in diapers myself.

Yeah, I know I have posted this one before.

Everyone in the house has "dibs" on something, at least for the next three months. Monday the hilarity will ensue. The nine year old wants his room, the wife wants his laptop, and I will most likely lay claim to his 19" flat-screen and iPod. My desk has so much crap piled on it that the extra real estate will be nice. Of course this is all temporary. A few months from now he will reclaim some of the important stuff.

"What laptop? WTF are you talking about? When did you get an ipod? Can you describe it?"
