School Lunch Conference Looks At Fat Kids

| Share on FriendFeed | DIGG This | Comment

Perhaps they need to spend more time on looking at the fact that they are cutting out quite a bit of the play time and some of the so-called dangerous activities that the children are allowed to do before jamming sprouts down our kid's throats.

I don't think it is necessarily the fault of "school lunches" that is making our kids fat. Perhaps their parents should try throwing their asses out of the house and make them do something besides sit in front of that new Xbox 360 they bought them for Christmas. After all it is the parents that are ultimately responsible for their children's welfare. Oh wait, I was wrong. That responsibility has been pretty much taken out of our hands and put into the loving big brother hands of our federal government thanks to all of the fucking sheeple that don't want to take responsibility for their actions. Most of these folks are the same ones that shouldn't have had children in the first place.

OMGDZ! This stuff makes me so mad!

Do you know what most PE (gym) classes call gym class now?
I'll tell you.
My high school students 45 minute PE class consists of walking around the track for 30 minutes. Then they are free to go take showers and sit down till the bell rings.
They walk. around. a. track.

When I was in school, elementary through high school, we ran, played baseball, basketball, dodgeball, did gymnastics, did weight training, played touch football, tag, did rope climbs and so on and so on.
PE class today consist of walking around the track.
Weight training is an optional course students can take if they choose.

I know the schools took away doing actual PE things because well, dodgeball is not exactly a friendly game, but it kept us in shape, we played it, we survived.

Make the kids be more active during PE, and yes, you're right, the parents need to make the kids go outside and do stuff.
Both my sons ride their bikes to and from school every single day. No bus riding here.
And because of the optional part in school, I have made both of them sign up for weight training. If that's all the physical education they can get at school, then I guess we have to opt in for it.

That's so funny, because I mostly spent PE skippigng class, smoking, and sitting around with my friends. But I never got fat. Of course, I didn't really eat much except for half-a-dozen cups of coffee every morning. Hmm.

I'd just as soon skip the PE, and the school lunch. We send our kids to school with a lunch we pack.
