The Politics of Power in D.C.

Apparently a couple of days ago Republican Representative Christopher Shays got into a verbal altercation with a Capitol Hill Police Officer reminiscent of Cynthia McKinney. The circumstances make it sound like it was pretty frustrating and explained why he acted the way he did but that doesn't excuse him from acting like a jerk. It seems to me that these so-called "powerful" people in the government need to take a step back and realize that the rest of us put our pants on the same way too.

What I find really interesting about the story as told by CNN and the couple of others blurbs I have read is that they don't sound nearly as sympathetic with Congressman Shays as they did for McKinney at least right at first, but then again he's not a black female democrat. That in itself explains quite a bit.
