Kind of a turnabout for the old fool. Apparently the former CBS news anchor has filed a $70 million lawsuit against Viacom Inc, CBS and three of his former bosses.
The lawsuit was filed Wednesday afternoon in New York State Supreme Court and in the suit Mr. Rather claims that CBS and it's executives made him a scapegoat in an attempt to pacify the White House. Well, isn't that sort of what happens when you create a false story using false documents and sources that don't exist? Gee, that sort of sounds like fraud. Perhaps they should file a countersuit against him and claim that they damaged their news reporting reputation...
Here's an AP video about the deal...
It's amazing that he can even claim that it's CBS fault and that it's their fault that the discredited story tarnished his final months at the network.

Mr. Rather, 75, asserts that the network violated his contract by giving him insufficient airtime on “60 Minutes” after forcing him to step down as anchor of the “CBS Evening News” in March 2005. He also contends that the network committed fraud by commissioning a “biased” and incomplete investigation of the flawed Guard broadcast and, in the process, “seriously damaged his reputation.”
