Evel Knievel, the daredevil motorcyclist who jumped Snake River Canyon died today at the age of 69. His death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He has been in poor health for several years, suffering from diabetes as well as pulmonary fibrosis.

Back in the seventies Evel was my hero, failed jumps and all, simply because he kept trying to win and wouldn't give up.
