I have posted several times over the last few months about trying to get MyBlogLog avatars working in my comments. Supposedly if you add the code in and then request for them to implement it MyBlogLog will turn them on for you. I have set it in my preferences at MyBlogLog and actually emailed them several times since APRIL. According to Eric (and it's probably completely true) they have to manually turn it on for you and have a severe backlog. Seems to me that it's just not a priority, so I have been looking for an alternative.

I have been using Gravatars during that time and they are pretty cool, but not that many people seem to use their service. Maybe one out of ten commenter's actually have a Gravatar.

I came across a plugin last night that will insert the URL for your MyBlogLog avatar in comments and have installed it. I must say that it's working very nicely. Kudos to Rob Buckley who got this thing working. You can download the plugin and find directions here. I knew if I waited long enough someone smarter than I would come up with on that would work.

Now if I could just figure out how to use logic in Perl I might be able to do an 'if exist' type of thing and use both plugins...

To see it in action, just leave a comment. In order to ease the load here I use background publishing, so when you leave a comment it takes up to five minutes before it appears. Don't freak out when it's not here immediately.

I have run into the same issues with MyBlogLog. I tried Gravatar but broke my blog..eek. I'll give this plugin a shot.
