1930s-1

That is my grandmother. She passed away when my father was a teenager and thus I never had the chance to meet her. She was also the first mail carrier for Sandy Springs, long before it became a city. Prior to that the folks that lived there had to visit the post office in order to pick up their mail.

I know she was pretty darned active and I have the feeling I would have really liked her. I'm glad my dad finally scanned this stuff. Obviously from the shape the clipping is in as well as some of the other pictures, they may not last much longer and having a permanent record of them is a good thing.

Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Richard, she was beautiful. That pretty cool that she was the first post lady.

That's an amazing story and quite an accomplishment for a woman in her day. It's too bad you were never able to meet her, she sounds like a wonderful lady.

Wow! She was a leader in her day. It is too bad she passed away so young.

Hey, she sounds like she was cool. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for coming by my place from time to time.

Thanks everyone. I've been enjoying posting some of these old photos and will most likely be putting more up in the days to come. I have several old albums here that I have been needing to scan as well.
