Short Holiday

I hate the fact that I'm not able to spend quite as much time with my family during the holidays as I would like. I posted a couple of days ago about how this time of year it becomes pretty hard for me to do what I do. When I said something about not being able to see anyone on Christmas the other evening because I will end up working about 20 hours I thought the wife was going to cry. Sometimes it just sucks.

My brother, along with his wife and kids, came home with us after Thanksgiving and spent the night as well as yesterday at our house. Unfortunately the had to head out yesterday before I could get home from work. They are coming back down for Christmas though, and at some point we are going to have a Christmas here at the house with at least some of my family, it just won't be Christmas Day.

The wife and one of her friends will be dropping the girls off at another friend's house this evening and making the long drive back up to Jacksonville North Carolina to take our boy back to Camp LeJeune. It was nice being able to have him home this week and he brought a friend with him. Noah Christmas is the boy's name, and he was a pretty nice guy. I was happy to have him here, and he helped keep the Marine from being too bored and gave the girls someone to talk to besides us since they never stop talking, even when sleeping.

Here are a few pictures from Thanksgiving. I only took a few as I partook in the festivities more than standing around taking pictures.

Thanksgiving at Aunt Helen's 032

That is Noah and Chris (The Marines). Of course they were glued to the PSP for awhile when they weren't eating anyway.

Thanksgiving at Aunt Helen's 031

These are my two Aunts. We had our Thanksgiving meal at one of their houses.

Thanksgiving at Aunt Helen's 030

My Grandmother. She and my Great-Aunt both made it to Thanksgiving. My brother and Aunt picked them up and then my parents took them back home when it was time to leave. I hate the fact that their health is suffering, particularly my Great-Aunt. I just don't know if she will make it through another holiday and it's pretty sad.

Think they were bored? I believe they were just taking a rest between running around the house. That's my niece, Pete and the Queen of the Obvious.

I would write a bit more (and may read the news for a minute or two and post a bit), but it's about time to start getting ready for work. Hopefully I will get to make it home before the wife leaves town this evening. As far as I know it should be a pretty easy day. The weekend after Thanksgiving is normally pretty slow at work. Everyone is over going out after shopping yesterday and add that to the fact that it's gotten pretty cold over the last 36 hours.
