RePete's Birthday Party

I managed to get this weekend off, which is quite nice. I have had to ignore several phone calls that have come in from my stores, but it wasn't too difficult. I figure that all of my managers are working, they need to be adults and handle whatever problems come up.

Although I really didn't want to get up, the girls woke me up early so that I could take them to their crafts festival and breakfast with Santa this morning. The wife stayed home and straightened up the house for the party this afternoon. The Waffle House provided breakfast, which was pretty damned funny in itself. It was OK though. We made a couple of bags with snowmen on them, some ornaments, ornamental boxes, glued snowmen together and made a couple of headbands with snowflakes on them. All in all the girls had a pretty good time. They also had their picture made with Santa. I should get that back in the next week or so.

RePete's birthday was pretty small. We neglected to send the invitations out until the beginning of this past week, so not too many children showed up but that was OK. It was nice to have a party without 30 children running around the house for a change. They do enjoy the parties though. The advantage to having them at the house is the fact that they are able to invite as many people as they want. The few times we have had them elsewhere we have to limit it to 10 or less. Here are a couple of pictures.

Overall we had a great time even if the party was kind of small. After the party I decided to take a nap until about five or so, had a little coffee and then headed outside to put up some of the Christmas decorations. We got quite a bit up but it was too dark to finish. The wife has to go pick up Michelle from the airport in the morning but other than that I don't think we have anything planned. I will lay out the rest of the decorations and finish putting them up tomorrow afternoon.

Once we decorated of course I had to take the girls for a drive around the neighborhood to look at the different houses. There are a couple in the area that put up even more stuff than I do. The houses are amazing. We only stayed out for 30 minutes or so. We may take another drive tomorrow evening since there were several houses that were decorated but the lights were off and nobody was at home. Damn, I can relate...

We had a lovely dinner of pork loin and sweet potatoes prepared by the wife once I got back. It was delicious. It was even better since I didn't have to cook it. Actually she tends to do most of the cooking nowadays and some of it has gotten to be pretty tasty. Thank god for Alton Brown.
