Happy Anniversary to one of the actions which directly helped to spark the American Revolution. The Boston Tea Party took place on December 16th, 1773. 234 years ago. On May 10th, 1773, the Parliament of Great Britain passed the Tea Act, a 2% tax on tea sold in the colonies.
It's amazing how 234 years can blunt the effects of taxes. If I only had to pay 2% tax on anything I would be thrilled to death.
No taxation without representation. What a joke.

I did not realize the anniversary just passed, but I was ironically thinking the other day what a modern-day Boston Tea Party would consist of. What would we as consumers be able to do to impact our economy to the effect of leveraging congress - I have no idea, I get stuck at stop shopping at Walmart?
