Being as how I am fairly financially conservative I tend to gravitate toward other conservative sites so that I can see what is being said. The more I read the more I realize that maybe I'm not quite so conservative after all.

I came across this post over at formykountry and while I tend to agree with the arguments that Jim has stated about our country, I can't quite draw the line from point a to point b that he has.

America has become a narcissistic society and a culture where we are each “entitled” to certain minimums. When those minimums are not provided, rage is justified, not only justified, but expected. Someone has to pay, someone is responsible. Our liberal politicians and their class-warfare strategies never suggest it is individuals themselves who are responsible for their own minimums. Almost always, it is the rich; the rich who are taking from the poor.

The post I am referring to is actually several months old, having been written right after the Virginia Tech tragedy that touched everyone around the country.

I agree with him that we have fostered a welfare culture and that an extremely large portion of our society has become accustomed to entitlements and taking from the government at my expense. For instance, this year alone I will most likely end up paying the government a couple thousand dollars when I file my income tax. Will they use it to build better schools, fix bridges or flood gates or perhaps send it to Iraq to help rebuild their country? Maybe the can pay our soldiers a couple more bucks with it. Nope. Most likely it will go to feed some crackheaded fool's children by an unknown father.

Perhaps they could add a couple of checkboxes to the bottom of our returns...

X check here if you want your taxes used for defense.

X check here to repair roads and bridges

X check here if you want $1 sent to the election fund

X check here to give your money to the crackheads

Jim is correct in a couple of other things as well. Liberals, not all of them but enough of the vocal majority to make it the truth, act as if wealth is evil (except for their own) and want to take it and redistribute it amongst everyone else in their utopian idea of a socialist society. Where I think he has gotten it wrong is to insist that Cho Seung-Hui shot and killed those people because of the liberal education he had received all of his life. Just because Mr. Seung-Hui said so doesn't make it true. It just makes him crazy...

If you get the chance to stop by formykountry, do so. Some of the recent posts at the Patriot's Den really had me laughing and thinking at the same time.
