I wrote a little about my cousin Allen on one of my other sites earlier this evening. Allen was retarded and had some other health issues as well. I think (but am not 100% sure) that he may have had cerebral palsy.
One of the reasons Allen had so many health issues might have had to do with the fact that during her youth my aunt drank a bit. Maybe more than a bit. I don't know if that was it or not because he other son was completely healthy. I know that my aunt probably thinks so. As a parent just about anything that happens with or to my children just eats me alive and that has to be pretty hard for her.
I guess stuff runs in families. She's not the only one to have had issues. According to my family my grandfather was pretty eccentric to the point of being crazy and I had issues with drugs at one point. As a matter of fact I went through drug rehabilitation about 24 years ago. The drugs themselves weren't really the problem but they were certainly a major symptom of other stuff that I had to learn to deal with.
