Last year the FBI put out what basically amounts to a media blitz in the hopes that someone in the public would come forward with a bit of new information in the 37 year old case. It may have happened.

A torn and tangled parachute found by children in southwest Washington state may belong to famed hijacker D.B. Cooper, who jumped out of a jetliner in 1971 with $200,000 in cash, never to be seen again.

There's been a story up for a couple of days at CNN that details some of the history.
