On Prostitution...

What I said about Ashley Dupre's fifteen minutes is certainly coming true. Apparently Hustler and Penthouse are knocking on the proverbial door to try and get her to pose. Larry Flint, the publisher for Hustler Magazine has offered Miss Dupre $1 million to pose for his magazine.

So I posted the rant below the dotted line yesterday morning after reading about New York Governor Spitzer and the bit of a mess he got himself into. Now apparently the news is all about Ashley Alexandra Dupre. From what I read at CNN her name is now the #5 searched for term on Google. I guess folks are telling us that the Governor is no longer news, but Ashley is.
I had the link to her profile on Myspace yesterday but it looks like she's taken the page down. For good reason I'm sure. There are about 22 different group results on Facebook both pro and con for her. I guess this is her 15 minutes of fame, but it damn sure doesn't look like she's enjoying it yet.
Ashley Dupre also has a LinkedIn profile here but has deleted most of her contacts for the time being in trying to maintain a bit of privacy. I haven't seen any mention of her LinkedIn page on any of the news sites, but it is a bit more on the professional side thank Myspace. Hopefully she can use some of her 15 minutes and help leverage it to benefit herself.
In the video below some of her band members talk a little about Ashley.
All of this talk about Governor Spitzer resigning got me to thinking about it and there are all kinds of issues in this that stink, the fact that he used the Emperor's VIP call girls at least eight times recently even though he's married being the biggest.
Hasn't prostitution been called the oldest profession?
How about the fact that Governor Spitzer's bank reported the the Treasury Department of the United States when it saw several suspicious transfers from one account to another. Mind you, we're not talking about millions or even hundreds of thousands, just a few thousand dollars.
Fuck. Talk about Big Brother.
Here's something to think about. Just like when we were going through prohibition with alcohol (we are still in the midst of it with marijuana) organized crime gets involved. Does it stop? No, it's just that the criminals get involved and make even more money. The same rule applies to the sex industry, and a multi-billion dollar industry it is.
So New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has resigned. What good does that do?
Other than the obvious fact that he was screwing around on his wife has he done anything else really wrong? Was he using money that belonged to the people of New York to arrange his trysts with call girls or perhaps using resources belonging to the government? Who cares if he was getting his dick sucked for money? Give me a break. So some people have to pay for it. Why should that be a crime?
Tracy Quan is the author of "Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl" and a former call girls herself. She spoke with Maggie Rodriguez of CBS News about working with high-profile clients and why she joined the sex industry.
