I love ceiling fans. One of the first things that we did when we moved into our house back in 2000 was to install ceiling fans in all four of the bedrooms. We also pulled out the el cheapo chandelier in the dining area and put in a ceiling fan/light combination instead. You're already using the electricity for the lights anyway, and while a ceiling fan motor will certainly use more power than a light bulb, it still helps to keep things cooler. I also like that it helps to circulate the air in the house. With a dog and cat here in the house I would hate for the air to get stale, particularly now that I've quit smoking and I can smell everything that much more intensely.

We have been thinking about adding three ceiling fans to our front porch this summer. We spend a great deal of time outside during the warm months of the year and while it will be a little more work for me to install fans on the porch than it was in the house, the end result would be pretty nice. I've been thinking about three of the monte carlo ceiling fans for the front porch area.

We are also probably going to be putting in a semi-permanent tent area near the goldfish pond and I was seriously thinking about wiring it up as well. I've been looking more at modern ceiling fans for that area though. Running power to the area would actually be the easy part. The hard part would be getting the area ready to put the frame in and anchor it permanently. I may end up using concrete for that. I'm going to stop by the Home Depot tomorrow afternoon and look at prices for some of that stuff just to get an idea on what kind of structure we might put in.
