Updated 4-5-08 5:25 p.m. CNN is reporting that they have now removed 183 people from the ranch, including 137 children. Authorities are saying that there is evidence of possible abuse and they have to make sure the kids are alright.
They are still searching the compound and at least one suspect is being sought by the police. The search warrant they used states that they are searching for Dale Barlow, a 50-year-old man who they suspect of marrying and fathering a child with a 16-year-old girl.
Polygamy doesn't particularly bother me. If you can live like that, more power to you, but a 50-year-old dude screwing a 16-year-old? That's just fucking nasty and pathetic. What's even more pathetic is the FLDS approves of it and has no problem with it.
Updated 4-5: I just found the video below from the Associated Press. Although they bussed around 50 girls out of the compound, 18 have been taken into protective custody.
Texas authorities are in the process of serving arrest and search warrants at a ranch that's held by around 400 of Warren Jeff's followers. According to a recorded message from a department spokesman no arrests have yet been made.
According to Child Protective Services a busload of children were taken from the Ranch earlier today and Texas authorities are in the process of investigating the safety of children at the ranch.
The AP is reporting the the bus which was accompanied by Texas state troopers was mostly filled with girls. Police have sealed off the 1900 acre compound near Eldorado and they are allowing no one to enter or leave the ranch.
Several different law enforcement agencies are helping with the investigation and the people living at the ranch are cooperating and providing the investigators with the information and people that they are asking for.
