Last week I took some photos of my garden which I will share over the next couple of weeks. This is a shrimp plant that I put in the ground this spring. It was really different and when I first saw the darned thing I knew I had to have it.

...and this is what the flowers look like a bit closer.

I love the yellow!

I played too :)

I can see why you had to have it, now I do too. Those are unusual looking flowers and a great yellow.

Happy GTS

Most shrimp plants I've seen are a shrimp color. This one looks different in shape and flower, so there must be two plants called shrimp plant. I like your better! Happy GTS,
Aiyana

There are actually two plants called shrimp plant. The one I have is more commonly known as the golden shrimp plant. The one you have seen, which I don't have YET is more of a salmon color and the flowers look a bit more like shrimp than mine.

Wow that plant has a very interesting looking flower. I'm not familiar with this plant at all. Is it a tropical plant?

Very cool and I like the color.

My GTS posts (on three blogs) are about a nature site I visited - lots of native plant pictures this week.

It grows in tropical and se-tropical areas. I've had pretty good luck with stuff coming back here as long as I mulch it quite well in the fall. The stuff that I know won't make it I keep in pots and move into the basement.
