While family members may say that there were no marital problems between Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Robert A. McClain and his wife there certainly must have been something going on. Robert's wife had found a younger man and planned on leaving him. According to his uncle they two were planning to separate and that he was planning on finding a place to live and move out. McClain's uncle told the Orange County Register that Robert didn't feel his wife was acting in an appropriate manner especially since she is a mother.
Personally I think a lot of it stems from money, which seems to be the root of evil in quite a few relationship troubles. Both Robert and his wife were real estate agents but of course we all know what happens when the market tanks. The really good ones keep working, just a little bit harder and the rest of them get other jobs, which is exactly what Robert and his wife did.
Allegedly McClain somehow managed to get his wife and her lover to meet with him after his wife told him she was leaving for another man around 10pm last Sunday evening. They went to the younger man's apartment and then to the nearby leasing office where his wife met the other man. McClain has been accused of taking out a knife and forcing both of his victims to undress. He then ordered his wife to castrate the other guy. She apparently tried to fake it but he was stabbed several times in the general area of his testicles. doh! After he slashed the guys face McClain took off and made his wife go with him.
Where were their four children at the time?
The reports say that McClain sodomized his wife and chopped off her hair and then took her home. At some point around 5am Monday morning she managed to escape with her four children and go to a hospital. Even the bad guys gotta sleep some time.
About two hours later a cleaning crew found the other man and called 911. He was hospitalized in a coma and is expected to survive.
McClain's uncle also told the newspaper that McClain said he was attacked by the younger man. Considering that Robert McClain is 240lbs and an ex-marine and his victim is 140lbs I find that extremely hard to believe.
Robert Avery McClain has been charged by the Orange County Superior Court with Aggravated Mayhem, Torture and Sodomy. He is sitting behind bars on bail of $5 million and there is a protective order that bars him from contacting either of the victims. His arraignment is scheduled for October 17th.
Robert resigned from the Sheriff's Department on Wednesday before they could terminate him.
Update - Robert McClain has pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains in the custody of the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach on bail of $5 Million. He's due back in court in January for pre-trial hearings.
