Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) Airman Melissa Pyle mans a jet blast deflector station on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) in the Gulf Of Oman. Theodore Roosevelt and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8 are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.

Thanks for serving our country proudly in the most dangerous environment in the entire naval fleet. The flight deck. After my 3.2 yrs on the o-10 level of CVN-72 Ole abe, from precomm through the end of my career, I had mad respect for those serving in that fuel infested hell hole of noise and confusion. My next round of tequila for my patrons at my bar in Mexico. about 20, go to you and everyone like you kickin ass every day on the dirty smelly hot dangerous flight decks of our proudest fleet. BTW, your picture and tribute has been posted on a loop on my lcd over the bar with other relevant heroes whos parents live or visit here in Merida. Thanks girl.
